On behalf of our private client, we are seeking a dedicated, German-speaking Governess/Tutor with a strong educational focus to join a welcoming family in Chelsea.
The Governess/Tutor will be responsible for the learning and development of two children (5-year-old boy and 3-year-old girl) in a structured yet engaging environment. The primary focus of the role is to support 7+ preparation and enhance fluency in German, ensuring a well-rounded approach to early education and intellectual growth.
NOTE – must have right to work in the UK OR client will sponsor via a skilled worker visa
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 2:00 PM – 6:30/7:00 PM (flexibility for the right candidate)
Key Responsibilities:
- Academic Support & Early Learning: Provide structured tutoring and academic enrichment, particularly in early literacy and numeracy to build a strong foundation
- 7+ Exam Preparation: Support targeted learning strategies to prepare for the 7+ exam and ensure academic readiness
- German Language Development: Enhance German fluency through immersive conversation, reading, and structured activities
- Lesson Planning: Develop engaging, language-focused lesson plans incorporating storytelling, music, and play-based learning
- Child Development & Learning: Create a stimulating and structured learning environment that nurtures intellectual and social growth
- Educational Activities: Design and lead age-appropriate learning experiences tailored to each child’s developmental needs
- Organisation & Collaboration: Maintain an orderly, learning-focused space while working closely with household staff
- Daily Coordination: Manage school pickups, playdates, and extracurricular activities that complement the children’s learning journey
- Routine Management: Ensure a smooth transition between academic sessions and recreational time
- Parental Communication: Provide regular updates on progress, milestones, and areas for further development
Requirements:
- Fluent or native German speaker with strong language teaching abilities
- Educational background in tutoring and Key Stage 1 (KS1) in highly selective schools
- Prior experience as a governess, tutor, or educator working with young children
- Strong knowledge of the British curriculum and 7+ entrance exam preparation
- Ability to create structured lesson plans tailored to individual learning needs
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to balance structured learning with play
- Valid driver’s license (a plus)
Salary: £70-90k gross per year
