Our HNW client is currently seeking an experienced, flexible Butler to work at their country residence near Newbury & support the London team at their West London residence on a regular basis.
Reporting to the Family PAs, working closely with a second Butler, a Chef, and a team of gardeners & housekeepers to ensure the smooth running of the estate and provide service when the family is in residence. Flexibility is key, with a requirement to adapt working hours to meet the family’s needs.
There is a requirement to travel with the family throughout the year, primarily to Switzerland, with the potential for additional global travel.
Familiarity with shooting weekends is an advantage, whilst it is not a shooting estate, the family often hosts dinners during the shooting season.
The existing team are hardworking yet supportive and fun — this position is ideal for someone who is a team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Duties include (but not limited to):
- Driving family members and running general errands
- Serving and accommodating the family and their guests ensuring their needs are met, with an attentive and approachable manner.
- Formal table setting and fine dining service
- Preparing residences ahead of the family’s arrival, including stock take and coordination with the chef, housekeeping and the wider estate team
- International travel (with a potential of up to 12 weeks of the year)
- Polishing and maintaining silverware and valuable items
- Granting access to the estate and house for contractors, deliveries, and guests following security protocols.
Requirements:
- Understanding of basic security protocols, with the ability to follow procedures
- A keen eye for detail whilst being forward thinking and demonstrating initiative.
- Excellent communication skills with a polite, respectful, and discreet approach.
- Current DBS Check or willing to have one (The family have 5 children, over 12 years old)
- Driving licence
- Flexible worker, with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
- Ideally, previously worked on a country estate.
- Previous experience serving at events
- Hospitality / Cabin crew or yacht experience is highly desireable
Working Days/Hours: 5 days a week Monday-Sunday. Weekends essential.
Accommodation: self-contained one-bedroom private accommodation on the estate (partner welcome)
Salary: : £38- 44k per year DOE
